A tribute to desire in all its forms, Putain de Palaces is sheer sensuous fantasy.

The powdered top note evokes a woman who dresses for seduction — a soft trail of lipstick, the rustling of lace. The intimate ritual of a femme fatale who sees right through the fragile armour of men. Under the bitter-sweet touch of almond, like a secret that unfolds, comes a hint of supple leather, fluid and flexible, that introduces what is to come: a boudoir, fingers that tighten on a leatherette sofa and the palpable presence of raw desire.

Doesn’t everyone have a fantasy of being a temptress in a hotel bar, of yielding to desire in the intimacy of a lift or of giving way to sensuality in silk sheet luxury?

NOTES

Middle: Iris, Rose Absolute, Rice Powder
Base: Tonka Beans Orpur®, Sandalwood, Musk

HOW IT WEARS
Opening with the sticky sweetness of raspberry, mandarin and rose, as Putain de Palaces wears it gets more and more powdery – iris, tonka and rice combine to create a smell reminiscent of a makeup compact. As it dries down, it gets dirtier and more animalic, like a powder puff that’s been very well-loved, or even the smell of vintage pantyhose. A classic scent with a provocative twist, Putain de Palaces has a hypnotic projection and excellent lasting power – it will give you 6-8 hours of wear on the skin.

LORE LOVES
We like to imagine Putain de Palaces as the scent of the 16th century European aristocracy, who powdered their faces white, wore extravagant wigs, far too much lace, and got up to some pretty risqué stuff behind closed French doors. Before re-entering the court, they wouldn’t bathe, but perfume and powder themselves instead, resulting in a fragrance that (if you paid attention as they teetered past) would reveal their carnal transgressions.

ABOUT THE BRAND
Founded by Etienne de Swardt in 2006, Etat Libre d’Orange is an ambitious, audacious perfume house. Its name meaning “Free Orange State” in French, this is a house with an emphasis on originality, audacity, authenticity and freedom of expression. Each of Etat Libre d’Orange’s offerings is uncompromisingly surprising and knows no constraints in terms of creativity nor raw materials.
A perfumer for LVMH for many years before going rogue, Etienne de Swardt founded Etat Libre d’Orange with a view to turn the commercial fragrance industry on its head. Its launch certainly made waves, not only due to the raunchy fragrance names, but for the compositions themselves.
Read any review of Etat Libre d’Orange online and you will see a wide range of opinions, from disgusted to delighted, from aroused to inspired. We are obsessed with the daring whimsy of this fragrance house and so excited to have it at Lore!
