Introducing Jasmine Freak By Room 1015
The newest arrival from our fave rock ‘n’ roll perfume house, Room 1015, has just burst onto the scene: Jasmine Freak!
A celebration of self-expression in all its forms, Jasmine Freak invites you to come as you are, to break the rules and defy societal expectations.
Exclusively available in Australia at Lore Perfumery, introducing… Jasmine Freak!
The juice:
Beginning with an explosion of tropical fruity sweetness from juicy mango, rich blackcurrant and sweet orange, Jasmine Freak is garnished with just a crack of black pepper before revealing its floral heart notes. Plush and heady, in the heart of Jasmine Freak is of course jasmine, dancing hand-in-hand with honeyed ylang ylang and bubblegummy tuberose. Underpinned by silky-smooth cashmere woods, the top, middle and base notes persevere throughout the entirety of Jasmine Freak’s wear, oscillating between the fruits and the florals. With bold projection and great lasting power, we get 6-8 hours of wear out of this fragrance.
Juicy mango, jasmine and bubblegummy tuberose, paired with silky-smooth cashmere woods!
The inspo:
If there’s anything we’ve come to expect from Room 1015, it’s to expect the unexpected! Upon reading the notes list for Jasmine Freak, you might assume it’s a stereotypically “feminine” fragrance – a combination of sweet fruits and florals. But by dialling up these notes, turning up the saturation and volume all the way, Jasmine Freak feels more like a costume, a performance of femininity, kind of like drag!
Room 1015 founder Dr Mike’s muse for Jasmine Freak (and face of the campaign) is Polyester Dagger, a musical act from L.A. whose music can best be described as a new school take on punk, new wave, and glam rock. Their gender-bending stage presence is all about playing characters through musical performance, exemplified by their striking makeup looks and outfits.
The word that comes to mind when you smell Jasmine Freak is “camp”. It’s eccentric, bombastic, and positively technicolour in its vibrancy. We see it as a rejection of the societal norms that categorise anyone who doesn’t subscribe to traditional notions of gender and sexuality as a “freak”, and as a celebration of the immense influence LGBTQI+ people have had on music and counterculture.
Freaks of the world, unite!
