- Description
In this limited-edition 2025 release, Trudon summons the heat of the desert through fragrance, from its sandy winds to hardy flowers to its luminous night sky. Altaïr is a woody-floral fragrance that blends oud, rose and peony with warm amber tones, serving as an olfactory interpretation of desert sand dunes.
Altaïr’s packaging plays with sculptural light and golden-brown shadows, mimicking geometric shifting ripples on desert sands. Elegantly fluted on the outside, the diffuser echoes the architectural striations of the dunes, further highlighted by a golden fret and emblem.
Shaped out of the emblematic hand-crafted Trudon glass, Le Diffuseur is a beautiful decorative object as well as a provider of powerful passive fragrance. Le Diffuseur’s refillable vessel is adorned with the signature Trudon gold emblem, and accompanied by 8 x natural black rattan diffuser reeds and a 100% recyclable aluminium ring.
ALTAÏR
Unfolding like a shining star in the desert sky, Altaïr marries the strength of oud with the delicateness of rose. Created by perfumer Emilie Bouge (Robertet), Altaïr represents an oniric attraction to faraway lands: “I composed Altaïr as an opulent, elegant, nude and resolutely modern fragrance: the gentle and enveloping scent transports us to an imaginary destination” she explains. “I try to visualize each olfactory composition with colours. With Altaïr, I picture the soft hues of wood and sand dunes, with a touch of nude. the fragrance evokes beige-rose, luminous and amber tones.”
NOTES
Top: Raspberry, Peonies

DIFFUSION
The diffuser allows for a 3 to 4-month-long passive diffusion. In order to obtain a continuous diffusion, flip the sticks during the first two weeks of use and then every four days until complete evaporation of the perfume.
HOW IT SMELLS
Altaïr is a perfectly balanced fragrance – the freshness of peony dances with the romance of rose, both sweetened slightly by raspberry and underpinned by earthy, sensual oud. The result is a complex, luxuriant smell that’s just breathtaking!
LORE LOVES
Oud and rose… is there any better combination? We love how Trudon has embraced such a modern fragrance while still tying it to its history. This diffuser is so beautiful – perfect for anyone who loves woody or floral fragrances!
ABOUT THE BRAND
Founded in 1643, Trudon is the oldest wax manufacturer in the world.
In 1640s Paris, Claude Trudon, a convenience store owner, began to make tapered candles with a new methodology he had developed, utilising a special blend of beeswax and vegetable wax. His high-quality candles rapidly gained popularity, as they didn’t warp, smoke or splutter, and therefore didn’t cause fires!
In 1702, Trudon opened a factory so that their highly sought-after candles could be manufactured on a larger scale. Before long, their secret wax formula (still used today!) attracted the attention of the Crown. The house of Trudon became the candle provider to the Royal Court of Louis XIV, as well as many of the great churches of France. Louis XIV was so impressed with their candles that he issued a seal of approval with his official family crest. This crest can now be seen affixed to every Trudon product, with the addition of the motto “Deo regique laborant”, which means: “they (the bees) work for God and the King”, a nod to the creature that made their successful wax formula possible!
By the mid-17th century, Trudon had become the largest wax manufacturer in France. As candle makers to the Royal Court, Trudon were commissioned to make candles for many French icons – from Louis XIV to Marie Antoinette to Napoleon Bonaparte. Napoleon actually commissioned Trudon to make a candle for the birth of his son – rumoured to be the only gift he ever gave him – a black candle made in his likeness, adorned in gold.
Fast forward to 2007 when the house took the name Trudon and became the leading specialist in manufacturing perfumed candles. All their candles are still hand-made, using traditional production methods akin to those Claude Trudon would have used in the 1600s. In their Normandy factory, each candle is hand-poured into hand-blown vessels from Tuscany. Today, Trudon has extended their range to a line of genderless perfumes in addition to their variety of options for luxuriously fragrancing your space.
