Fragonard

Named after the famous Grasse-born painter, Jean-Honoré Fragonard, the perfume house of Fragonard was created in 1926. Set up on the novel concept of selling perfumery products directly to the tourists who were beginning to discover the French Rivera’s charms. Today, Jean-François Costa’s daughters, Agnès and Françoise preside over the perfumery’s destiny, as it has passed through several generations.

Fragonard (loving all things perfume) are also well known for owning and operating the Fragonard Museum (Musee de Parfum Fragonard) – a unique museum concept that brings to life the mythical and often mysterious world of perfume. They hold an impressive collection of ancient perfume bottles dating as far back as Ancient Egypt through to the 20th Century – they trace the history of perfume through objects and information. The Fragonard perfume museum also gives attendees the opportunity to meet the noses working with Fragonard, learn about the process for creating perfume – harvest, extraction, distillation, formulation etc. An iconic museum to accompany an iconic perfume brand! This is a must visit for any perfume lover travelling to France.

At Lore Perfumery we often get customers reminiscing over their beautiful travels through France and their wonderful experience with Fragonard. And of course, their much-loved perfume that is so hard to find when back in Australia. But, not anymore! Lore is honoured and proud to be one of the few Australian official stockists of Fragonard Parfumer.
The Fragonard perfume line is comprised of several different collections. The most well known is the Estagon range – the beautiful gold bottles that the house has become quite famous for. Using aluminium, they are an ode to the World War when glass was either not available or too expensive so they bottled fragrance in the metal bottles. Not only does the bottle give Fragonard their iconic look, this also keep the precious perfume juice safe from breakage and light damage.
Within the collection some of our most popular scents at Lore Perfumery are Fragonard’s Diamant – a warm, soft fragrance with an earthy base, Belle Cherie – floral, fruity, tropical holidays, Belle de Nuit – a sophisticated, rich rose and the classic Fragonard – Fragonard, their namesake and an elegant white floral fragrance.
