This unique and limited-edition fragrance utilises fossilised amber oil, combined with cistus and elemi for a grounding and sensual scent.
What makes Heretic’s amber dirty? It’s 35 million years old – extracted from fossilised tree resin! Unlike oils from living plants, there is no essential oil that can be directly obtained from the fossilised resin. Instead, the oil comes from a process called “dry distillation” whereby the amber resin is processed over high heat until an oily substance is obtained.
Unlike other synthetic amber perfumes that are commonly sold, fossilized amber oil has a completely different aromatic profile. The extraction process yields a dark, viscous oil with smoky, resinous, leathery, woody-dry notes and hints of pine with balsamic overtones.

HOW IT WEARS
Dirty Amber opens with the brightness of bergamot and cardamom, accented by juniper’s sharpness. It quickly develops to reveal the stunning array of resins in the heart and base – balsamic elemi melts into rich labdanum which together amplify the fossilised amber resin. The dry down is a delicious cocktail of patchouli, woods, vanilla and tonka which add to the overall warmth and resinous intensity of the scent, helping it stick to the skin for 6-8 hours. It perfectly captures the nature of amber resin – some facets transparent, allowing light to pass through it, creating a bright luminosity, but also with more opaque facets that provide warm, golden earthy depth.
