Fragonard is celebrating Lilac in 2024. A symbol of springtime freshness, its invigorating, green and delicately powdery fragrance unveils a floral heart with harmonies of spices.
Lilac (or Lilas) is a woody flowering plant from the same family as the olive tree. Its gorgeous flowers bloom in springtime across Southeastern Europe. It can come in shades of light purple, indigo, white pink and even yellow, all with one thing in common – a beautiful scent that captures the heart of every person that smells it!
In the Victorian practice of Floriography, or the ‘Language of Flowers’, Lilacs symbolise youthful innocence and first love… particularity fitting given the softness of the flowers themselves and their gentle aroma.
As Lilac is a ‘silent flower’, meaning fragrance cannot be extracted directly from the flower, its scent can only be recreated in the lab utilising other notes. The perfect person to do this? Aurélien Guichard of course! Using his immense fragrance expertise and fine-tuned olfactory senses, Guichard has created an exquisite fragrance that highlights the soft beauty of this evasive flower.

HOW IT WEARS
Lilas begins a soft and even a little powdery – linden blossom and heliotrope mix with the almond-like aroma of hawthorn. After a little time on the skin though, the greener, true floral notes come out, painting a vivid portrait of the beautiful lilac flower. The dry down reveals earthy violet and softly sweet vanilla, as well as the sweet woodsy spice of clove. Even though Lilas is an Eau de Toilette, its lasting power is wonderful, giving you 4-6 hours of wear on the skin.
LORE LOVESÂ
Considering fragrance cannot be extracted from the flower itself and Aurélien had to recreate it via a combination of other notes, this fragrance is a masterpiece. Anyone who knows and loves the scent of lilac will be moved by this scent and just how photorealistic Lilas is. A pristine, complex bouquet of purple florals suitable for any time of year.
