What would it smell like to be mugged by a flower? “Late one night I was walking from the subway when I lived in NYC and I was mugged at gunpoint. I surrendered my wallet, was pistol-whipped and then left in a heap. After recovering from this traumatizing incident, I experienced something called an ‘olfactory hallucination’ that lasted for weeks. I would wake up to the smell of tuberose and gardenia, but the flowers were nowhere to be found. After seeing a few doctors I learned that traumatic events can trigger these scent-based hallucinations. It eventually went away, but the experience stuck with me and became the inspiration for this fragrance.” – Heretic Founder, Douglas Little
A play on words, Pistil Whip is an explosion of lush florals combined with verdant moss and wet stone. A hypnotic scent not restrained by gender, Pistil Whip was nominated for the coveted Fragrance Foundation Award in 2017.

Cheerful and bright pink pepper brightened by bergamot begin the wear of Pistil Whip, before it develops to reveal its sensual white floral heart. The lush, heady tuberose, tiare and gardenia in this scent are incredibly realistic, and create an intoxicating and alluring throw. Balanced perfectly by a base of subtly smoky lapsang souchong and the earthy spice of vetiver, Pistil Whip lasts on the skin for a good 6-8 hours!

Pistil Whip definitely has one of the more unique backstories we’ve seen for a fragrance, but hey, that’s kind of Heretic’s whole thing! The more mystical among us might think that hallucinating the scent of white florals after trauma could indicate the presence of some sort of guardian angel – and therefore wearing this scent may provide or welcome some kind of holy protection.
