The house’s approach in creating the range: to increase parfum concentration, increase the dose of the central main ingredient in each fragrance, and, excitingly, add a new guest ingredient to each fragrance. The Extraits are not just the original fragrances but stronger, they’re elevated in every way.

Main ingredient: Rose Centifolia Absolute France, extracted from roses organically grown by MATIERE PREMIERE.
Guest ingredient: Immortelle Absolute Croatia
Creative approach: A genderless rose fragrance, powerful and radiant, with the highest possible dosage of Rose Centifolia Absolute France, organically grown by MATIERE PREMIERE in the Grasse region. Founder and Perfumer Aurélien Guichard has enriched the original Radical Rose Eau de Parfum with Immortelle Absolute Croatia as a guest ingredient. Combined with a higher perfume concentration, Immortelle highlights a deeper and more robust aspect of the rose note. It brings a dark and mineral side to Radical Rose.

HOW IT WEARS
The opening of Radical Rose Extrait is quite similar to the original – it begins with the soft spice of saffron and pepper blended with the natural thorny sharpness of rose. After a few minutes the rose become richer and more jammy, complemented by the addition of immortelle, which adds extra earthiness, but also sweetness (think the scent of rolling tobacco or hay). The drydown is still that intoxicating cocktail of resins plus some vanilla which sticks the fragrance to the skin for hours on end. Super wearable with a brilliant sillage – this is any rose lover’s dream, lasting 8-10 hours on the skin.

Radical Rose Extrait has somehow managed to amplify the already superdosed rose absolute in the original by cleverly surrounding it with complementary notes. A little earthier, but also sweeter due to the addition of immortelle, the longevity and sillage on Radical Rose Extrait is just remarkable. Full-bodied, romantic and impactful, this will turn the heads of rose-lovers and rose-ambivalents alike!
ABOUT THE BRAND
Debuted in 2019, Matiere Premiere (or “Raw Materials” in French) is the work of renowned nose and master perfumer, Aurélien Guichard.
The core objective of the Matiere Premiere range is to put a spotlight on some of the most precious fragrance materials from around the world, and to hero the beauty and elegance of a single note fragrance.
A 7th generation perfumer born in Grasse (arguably the perfume capital of the world), Aurélien Guichard has a passion for fragrance running through his veins. He has been the nose behind nearly one hundred fragrances and has worked with brands such as Givenchy, Narcisco Rodriguez, Gucci and Commes de Garcons.
Guichard is also the owner of an organic farm where he produces Rose Centifolia and Tuberose, some of which is used in the Matiere Premiere line, making it one of the only brands in the world to own and produce some of the raw materials used in their fragrances.
