HOW IT WEARS
Funnily enough, for us, Rose Load opens with a blast of dry, creamy sandalwood, which quickly dissipates (but will return later). After about 10 seconds on the skin the fragrance gets juicy, jammy and sparkly, like a rosewater preserve made with tart rhubarb, raspberries and flavoured with piquant cardamom. It’s then that the rose comes into full bloom, rich and deep, adding a sultry femininity to the fragrance which is perfectly balanced by papyrus, agarwood and sandalwood. Rose Load has incredible projection and lasts about 5-6 hours on the skin, leaving an irresistible trail behind the wearer.

Rose Load is a sweaty, aromatic rose that feels carnal and honestly hedonistic when on the skin, see-sawing between the feminine and masculine, between sweet and earthy, juicy and dry. This isn’t a freshly bloomed rose, this is a rose so ripe its petals are just about to fall off the stem in a fit of passion. The cardamom and rhubarb add a green tartness and spice that really sets Rose Load apart, helping it to feel more organic as it settles into its woody base notes.

In late 2015, Boy Smells began as an experiment in candle-making in the Los Angeles kitchen of co-founders and partners Matthew Herman and David Kien. Herman and Kien began by making the things they’d want to use daily – products that were fluid, essential, but also accessible.
